Role of Women in Family-Owned Small Business – She Works, Family Survives

This study examines the role, contribution, and lived experiences of women engaged in family-owned small businesses operating largely within the informal economy. Drawing on in-depth interviews and field observations, the study highlights how women’s labour sustains household-based enterprises that are primarily survival-oriented, while remaining largely invisible and under-recognized within both family structures and policy frameworks.
