Are you passionate about grassroots governance, public policy, and sustainable development? The Institute of Social Sciences (ISS) invites motivated individuals with a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification to apply for unpaid internships that offer rich learning and the opportunity to contribute to real-world impact.

Our research and fieldwork focus on key areas of national importance:

  • Rural Transformation and Panchayati Raj Institutions
  • Urban Growth Hubs and Urban Local Bodies
  • Multilevel Federalism and Public Policy Innovation
  • Social Enterprises and Sustainable Development
  • Climate-Smart and Community-Based Disaster Management

Interns are expected to commit a minimum of two months, working on field-based or desk-based research. Extensions are possible based on interest and project needs. Please note: this is an unpaid internship.

As an ISS intern, you will:

  • Work closely with experienced researchers and policy practitioners
  • Contribute meaningfully to ongoing studies and field initiatives
  • Gain deep insights into governance, development, and institutional change

We follow a rolling application process — you may apply at any time of the year. We are flexible and welcome interns throughout the year based on project availability and your interests.

To apply, please send a brief statement of interest along with your CV to vidya.nair@issin.org.

Join us in shaping ideas and action for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
